New Coffee Trends Emerge in the Fast Food Market

Popular coffeehouse chains cater to people who love their coffee. However, while some of these coffeehouses are having a rough time financially, fast food chains are beginning to enter the coffee realm as well. Within the past couple years, one of the popular restaurant trends among fast food joints is adding specialty coffees to their menu. Restaurants like McDonalds and Burger King are jumping in to cash in on this trend.

This trend in fast food coffee began with certain doughnut shops starting to offer more options in coffee, from lattes, to frappes, to mochas, and more. Some of the fast food restaurants would begin to cash in on this trend as it proved successful for the doughnut shops.

Regular coffee has been sold at McDonalds for a long time. Then, McDonalds started the McFrappe line as well. Various other coffee beverages were added to their menu too. With the success of their McFrappe line, they started to experiment in other coffee options as well. They also started offering peppermint mocha for the holiday season too.

Of course, McDonalds is not the only fast food restaurant following some of the new restaurant trends in coffee. Soon Burger King would begin offering coffee, providing coffee from Seattle’s Best. Hot coffee and iced coffee options are both available on Burger King menus at this point.

Burger King isn’t the only fast food joint using Seattle’s Best coffee. Subway also decided to start serving this type of coffee as well. They introduced it along with their breakfast menu to better break into the breakfast market.

For many people who have grown tired of paying high prices for coffee at coffeehouses, fast food coffee is a great option. These new restaurant trends among fast food joints actually worry some coffeehouse owners, causing them to fear being run out of business. Some coffeehouses, such as Starbucks, are already having a tough time as people look for a cheaper way to get their coffee fix.

Fast food chains offer most coffee beverages. While espresso is currently not on the menu of any fast food restaurant, it could be offered in the future. Those with a refined palate may continue to frequent the coffeehouses. However, many people who crave their caffeine fix for a lower price will definitely choose the lower price options available at fast food restaurants. Newer trends in fast food coffee will probably solidify the hold of fast food giants on the coffee market in the future.
